As night temperatures in Islamabad dropped below 5°C this week, our relief team delivered the first 300 winter packs to families in Koral Town and Dhok Haidery.
What is in a winter pack
- Two heavy quilts and a blanket
- A month's ration of flour, rice, lentils, oil and tea
- Woollen shawls and socks for children
Families were identified through a door-to-door needs survey conducted in September with neighbourhood committees. Priority went to widows, older people living alone and households with young children.
“We used to burn plastic to keep the children warm. This year they will sleep under real quilts.” — a mother in Dhok Haidery
What comes next
We aim to reach 1,500 families before the end of December. Every pack is logged, and the campaign's full expenditure will be published on our transparency page.
